# Meeting-specific
Source: https://docs.cuckoo.so/customization/meetings
Add meeting-specific documents or keywords to improve translations
For each meeting, you can upload PDFs and add meeting-specific keywords. From the PDF, Cuckoo extracts relevant context and terminology and uses them to improve translation accuracy.
## Keywords
Select **Customization** at the top of the page to open the **Customization** panel. Under Keywords, click Edit to add, remove, or update keywords before or during the meeting.
After adding or updating keywords, click **Save** to apply your changes.
## Documents
Documents provide additional context for the meeting and improve translation accuracy.
Start by clicking **Upload PDF** under **Documents**, and select a document.
Cuckoo will extract context from the document including the summary and keywords. Click **Save keywords** to confirm.
# Organization-specific
Source: https://docs.cuckoo.so/customization/organization
Improve translations with keywords, presets, and replacement rules
While Cuckoo works great out of the box, you can further improve translation accuracy with organization-wide keywords and customization rules under Customization. It also helps keep terminology consistent across languages, meetings, and teams.
Customizations are automatically applied to all meetings within the organization.
## Keywords
Keywords help Cuckoo recognize and translate important terms more accurately. Add product names, company names, and technical terminology to help Cuckoo capture and translate them correctly during meetings.
* `Cuckoo` – Product names are a great example. Adding "Cuckoo" helps the AI recognize and translate the correct term instead of similar-sounding alternatives such as "Kuku".
* `Cuckoo (カッコウ)` – Add the original term and its target translation to guide Cuckoo in both languages, mapping "Cuckoo" to "カッコウ" when translating into Japanese.
* `OpenAI; ChatGPT; Codex (코덱스)` – Add multiple keywords separated by semicolons.
In addition to manually added keywords, Cuckoo automatically detects meaningful keywords after each meeting. **Auto-detected keywords** are continuously updated based on recent meetings and their context.
## Presets
Presets help larger, cross-functional teams organize and apply groups of keywords by topic, team, product, or use case.
Click **New preset** to create a preset, then enter a name and description.
Add one or many keywords separated by semicolons, with optional target translations in parentheses.
Under **Default presets**, checked presets that you want to apply to all meetings by default.
## Replacement rules
If you notice recurring mistranscriptions or mistranslations, add a **Replacement rule** to enforce a specific term mapping. Replacement rules are deterministic and are applied consistently across both transcripts and translations.
Replacement rules can also be used to define "do not translate" terms. To do this, set the replacement value to the original term. For example, replace "スノーフレイク" with "Snowflake" to ensure the brand name remains unchanged.
# Using the desktop app
Source: https://docs.cuckoo.so/desktop
Real-time translator, right on your desktop
Cuckoo’s desktop app translates audio directly from your computer, eliminating the need for meeting bots.
The app stays in your dock and automatically activates whenever one of your meetings starts, whether it’s on Zoom, Slack, VooV, or other conferencing platforms.
## Install Cuckoo
1. Download the desktop app at [https://www.cuckoo.so/desktop](https://www.cuckoo.so/desktop).
2. Open Cuckoo installer from your Downloads folder.
3. Run the Cuckoo installer.
## Start translation
1. Make sure the Cuckoo desktop app is running, then start or join a meeting on Zoom, MS Teams, or Google Meet.
2. Cuckoo will automatically detect the meeting and show a **Start translation** button or trigger a notification to start translation.
3. View the transcript or share it with your team by clicking **Share** and copy link.
During the meeting, you can click **Pop out to overlay** at the top right of the translation to open an overlay that stays on top of other windows. You can freely move and resize the window.
## Troubleshooting
During installation, the desktop app will ask you to enable access to your device microphone and other accessibility features.
If the app does not work, check whether Cuckoo is enabled in these three settings under Mac Privacy & Security. Under each section, you should see Cuckoo listed and toggled on.

## Create a meeting
1. Click New Meeting and select In-person.
2. Enter a title and select the languages for your meeting.
3. Click Create.
## Start translation
1. Under **Mic**, select your microphone input and verify that the volume indicator is active.

3. Click **End** when the meeting is over. Ended meetings cannot be restarted.
## Share translation
You can share the QR code or link to the translation by clicking the Share button at the top right of the page.
## Troubleshooting
If your microphone does not appear in the **Mic** list, or if the volume indicator is responding but speech is not being translated, verify that Chrome has permission to access your microphone and that the correct input device is selected.
Click the settings button on the top left of Chrome, and toggle the mic settings.
For Chrome-based browsers, you can also visit [Chrome microphone settings](chrome://settings/content/siteDetails?site=https%3A%2F%2Fapp.cuckoo.so) page and check if Microphone is **Allowed** for Cuckoo.

# Display translations
Source: https://docs.cuckoo.so/sessions/display
Show live translations on projectors, TVs, and external displays
Use **Wide display view** to show live translations on an audience-facing projector, TV, or external monitor.
To let attendees follow translations on their own devices, see [Share translations](/sessions/share).
## Open Wide display view
On the session host page, click **Share** in the upper-right corner.
In the sharing window, click the session's **Audience page** link. On the audience page, select **Wide display view**.
Open the display settings and select the languages you want to show.
Use one language when most attendees need the same translation. Show multiple languages when the audience is multilingual and each language will remain readable on the screen.
Configure the display for the venue. Available options include:
* **Text size:** Increase or decrease the translation size.
* **Line spacing:** Adjust the space between translated lines.
* **Bottom spacing:** Keep text clear of the bottom of the screen.
* **QR code position:** Place the audience QR code at the top or side of the display.
## Show translations on another display
### Use a dedicated display
Connect your computer to a projector, TV, or external monitor with an HDMI cable. Use the appropriate adapter if your computer does not have an HDMI port.
Move the **Wide display view** browser window to the connected display, then enter full-screen mode:
* **Windows:** Press `F11`.
* **macOS:** Press `Control + Command + F`.
If you want to keep the session controls on your computer, set the connected display to extend your desktop instead of mirroring it.
See a [multilingual event display at Weights & Biases' APAC event](https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7392157087977381888).
## More ways to display translations
These options require one laptop to run both the event content and captions throughout the event. It also requires installing and testing the desktop app or Chrome extension in advance.
### Use translations in OBS
Use OBS when you want to combine translations with slides, video, speaker footage, or other event visuals.
Open the session's **Audience page**, select **Wide display view**, and add the page to OBS as a browser source or window capture. Resize or crop the source to the translation region, then position it in your event layout.
This option gives the production team the most control over the size and placement of translations. Test the final layout, screen resolution, and text size on the venue display before the event begins.
### Use desktop app or Chrome extension captions
Use the Cuckoo desktop app or Chrome extension when you want to show a smaller caption or overlay on top of slides, videos, or other content from the same computer.
Install the [Cuckoo desktop app](/desktop) or Chrome extension before the event.
On the session host page, click **Use in OBS** in the upper-right corner.
Under **Language**, select **Japanese**. Under **Display settings**, select **Lines**, set **Number of lines** to **3**, and set **Text size** to **2**.
Click **Open overlay**. The caption overlay opens above your other windows.
Drag the overlay to place it anywhere on the screen. You can move it between apps or drag it onto another display. The overlay stays in front of other windows, including a full-screen PowerPoint presentation, so you can position captions without leaving the presentation.
# Share translations
Source: https://docs.cuckoo.so/sessions/share
Share a public link or QR code so attendees can follow live translations
Attendees can follow live translations on their phones, tablets, or laptops through the session's public audience page. They do not need a Cuckoo account.
Share the audience link on your event website or in email and webinar chat. Put the QR code on slides, signs, and screens at the venue. To show translations on a projector or TV, see [Display translations](/sessions/display).
## Share the audience page
On the session host page, click **Share** in the upper-right corner.
The sharing window shows the session's public audience link and QR code. The link and QR code do not change if you pause and resume the session.
Copy the link and share it wherever attendees receive event information, such as your event website, email, or webinar chat. Anyone with the link can open the audience page without signing in.
The URL begins with `https://live.cuckoo.so/at/` and then includes the organization name and event title.
Download the QR code and display it where attendees can easily scan it with their phones. Good locations include the opening slide, registration desk, printed program, table cards, and screens near the stage.
Add a short instruction, such as **Scan to follow live translations.**
On the host page, click **Audience page** to preview what attendees will see.
Attendees can select any language available for the session. The page scrolls automatically to show the latest translations.
